Counseling Services Internship Opportunities

Internships with Arcadia's Counseling Services

Counseling Services offers a two-semester graduate-level internship for students pursuing Professional Counseling, Social Work, or related degrees. The internship begins in late August and ends mid-May the following year. It is expected that all students have completed basic coursework in counseling and counseling theory. It is preferred that students have had some clinical practical experience in the psychology field. Master’s students are typically in their second (or later) year in the program, and doctoral students are typically in their third (or later) year in their program. All students are required to have their own malpractice insurance.

Interns typically work 16-24 hours per week, depending on their availability and their school’s requirements. The majority of the time will be spent providing individual counseling to our undergraduate and graduate student population. Opportunities are available to provide both group and possibly couples counseling, as well as conduct brief walk-in appointments. Interns are required to participate in the center's outreach activities, including presenting workshops on a variety of psychoeducational topics to the Arcadia community. These outreach opportunities allow interns to collaborate with other professionals across the campus. Interns are also encouraged to create outreach programs, groups, or workshops in their own areas of interest at some point throughout their internship year. Each intern receives one hour of weekly individual supervision with their clinical supervisor and participates in weekly group supervision. Regular didactic trainings are also planned during group supervision throughout the academic year, presented by Arcadia professionals, as well as professionals in the community. Topics span a range, all relevant to working with college students, including substance abuse, eating disorders, mindfulness, and others.

If interested in applying, please send resume and cover letter to Becca Bubb, Training Coordinator at Arcadia Counseling Services, at Applications will be accepted beginning in December, and will be reviewed until positions are filled. Interviews will begin in January.
