Physician Assistant Program Goals

Mission Statement

The Arcadia University Department of Medical Science has a  history of success in educating compassionate and highly qualified medical professionals who are lifelong learners. We are invested in creating a diverse, learner-centered, collaborative environment.

Our Physician Assistant Programs are committed to fostering resilience in an increasingly complex and interrelated global society. We prepare our students to excel in professionalism, leadership, and service.

Program Goals

Goal 1: Maintain first time PANCE pass rate above the national mean
  • Outcome 1: Since its inception in 1996, Arcadia University’s PA program has maintained a 96-100% first time PANCE pass rate, which is above the national average. The Class of 2021 had a 96% first time PANCE pass rate (national average 93%). The Class of 2020 had a 98% first time PANCE pass rate as compared to the national average of 95%.
Goal 2: Recruit and retain highly qualified students
  • Outcome 1: The program received 3,160 applications for 103 available seats during the admission cycle for the Class of 2021.  The matriculated students had a median GPA of 3.65 and a mean of 2,724 hours of clinical experience. The program received 3,159 applications for 105 seats during the admission cycle for Class 2022. The matriculated students had a mean GPA of 3.66 and a mean of 2,036 patient care hours.
  • Outcome 2: With an average class size of 104, the average attrition rate for Arcadia University’s PA program over the last three graduated classes is 2.96%, which is well below the national average.
Goal 3: Provide a global perspective to students and faculty by offering global experiences to at least one third of PA students and faculty
  • Outcome 1: The following percentages of students participated in or are scheduled to participate in global experiences:
    • 78% of the Class of 2019
    • 86% of the Class of 2020
    • 69% of the Class of 2021 * (It should be noted that planned International Travel was suspended in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic)
  • Outcome 2:  For Academic Year 2018-2019, 44% of principal faculty participated in Global Experiences. During Academic Year 2019-2020, 36% of principal faculty planned to participate in Global Experiences. During Academic Year 2020-2021, 34% of principal faculty planned to participate in Global Experiences. * (It should be noted that planned International Travel was suspended in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, affecting Academic Years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021)
  • Outcome 3: The University offers thirty-six $6,000 Global Studies scholarships each year to Physician Assistant students.
Goal 4: Promote community service within our student body
  • Outcome 1: 100% of our didactic year students over the past four years have participated in community service learning projects in conjunction with faculty.
Goal 5: Prepare students to provide care to diverse patient populations across the lifespan
  • Outcome 1: Supervised clinical practical experiences are offered in a variety of settings including rural and urban areas both domestically and internationally.
  • Outcome 2: Didactic and clinical courses provide student instruction and assessment in patient care topics across the lifespan.
